Maffei & Co. Expands Its Portfolio in the Growing E-Mobility Market
Maffei GmbH & Co. KGaA continues to expand its commitment to electric mobility infrastructure. Its portfolio companies Adaptive Balancing Power GmbH (ABP) and Park Your Truck GmbH (PYT) are active in markets that benefit from the increasing electrification of the transport sector.
Maffei & Co. Increases Its Stake in Adaptive Balancing Power
Maffei & Co. has held a stake in Adaptive Balancing Power GmbH (ABP) for several years through Maffei Ventures GmbH. ABP develops high-performance energy storage systems based on flywheel technology. These systems can deliver high levels of electrical power at short notice, making them particularly effective where current power grids cannot meet peak demand.
The technology is now deployed in a range of applications. For example, as part of the joint PEAK_S project with DB Energie GmbH the specification phase has been completed, and the technical requirements document has been submitted to the German Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt). Manufacturing of a system for the energy infrastructure of the Berlin S-Bahn is now underway.
ABP is also expanding its activities internationally. For example, in June 2026, an AMPERAGE flywheel storage system was installed at the CISE research center at the University of Beira Interior in Portugal.
As part of a current funding round, Maffei Ventures GmbH is further increasing its stake to around 1.25% while simultaneously assuming the role of lead investor (pool leader) for additional shareholders.
Wolrad Claudy, Managing Director of Maffei & Co. and Chairman of the Advisory Board at ABP: 'Adaptive Balancing Power has now proven its technology in a variety of demanding applications. The current projects demonstrate this broad potential. We see significant growth opportunities and are therefore consistently increasing our commitment.
Park Your Truck Expands Its Electric Truck Charging Infrastructure
Park Your Truck GmbH, in which Maffei & Co. holds a majority stake, is also significantly expanding its electromobility activities. Maffei & Co. indirectly holds 50.5% of the company through enerlog AG, in which it maintains a 96.98% controlling interest.
Park Your Truck operates and brokers truck parking facilities across Europe, increasingly developing these into hubs for electric commercial vehicles. In August 2026, two additional fast-charging systems were installed in Eching near Munich. A further 13 charging facilities are scheduled to follow by the end of the year. A significant part of the future capacity is already committed to companies in the freight transport and logistics sector.
Additional charging infrastructure is being developed in locations including the Port of Trier and Bitterfeld-Wolfen along the A9 motorway. Implementation is being carried out in partnership with Swiss infrastructure financier Roxpay AG. The charging solutions include ABB A400 systems with charging capacities of up to 400 kW.
A new booking and reservation system is also scheduled to launch in Q4 2026. It will enable customers to reserve both truck parking spaces and the necessary charging points in advance.
This dynamic growth is also reflected in the financial results: Based on contracts already concluded, revenue for 2026 is expected to significantly exceed EUR 20.0 million (2025: EUR 16.0 million). Operating EBIT is forecasted to grow at a rate even higher than revenue growth.
Long-Term Growth Opportunities in the Investment Portfolio
“At Maffei & Co., our focus is not on the short-term progress of individual projects, but on the long-term value appreciation of our investments,” says Wolrad Claudy. “With Adaptive Balancing Power and Park Your Truck, our portfolio is positioned in two sectors that stand to benefit from long-term structural growth."
